Sulfate (fails our check)

Often marketed as the natural alternative to SLS because it comes from coconut oil. In practice it is a blend that is mostly sodium lauryl sulfate. It can feel a bit milder, but it is still a sulfate.

Some brands call products with it sulfate-free. We don't. If it is on the list, the product fails our check, and we say so.
