Cleanser allowed in sulfate-free products

A coconut-derived cleanser found in a huge share of sulfate-free shampoos. On its own it is fairly mild and it softens harsher cleansers when they are paired together.

A small number of people are allergic to it or to impurities left from making it. Vanicream's body wash, for example, is marketed as free of it for that reason.
